Another aspect of Rohit’s Big Home concept is the intermingling of attached and single-family products throughout the neighbourhood. Van der Putten says this type of placement is rare.
“It’s a nice mix, and it’s less dense than a street with nothing but duplexes. All the attached homes aren’t relegated to one area of the community,” she says.
On the inside of each home, these deceptive duplexes continue to surprise. Both the Maxwell, at 1,417 square feet, and the Landon, at 1,565 square feet, have three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, nine-foot ceilings on the main floor and an upstairs bonus room.
This bonus or flex space, often used for a play area or TV room, is ideal for a home office, especially in times like these, Van der Putten explains.
“Now, you don’t have to give up the living room or master bedroom for office space in either of these homes,” she says.
Each model has a large master bedroom with a walk-in closet and a generous ensuite, features not often found in a duplex.
Buyers can opt for basement development to add more living space or, thanks to new zoning recently approved for Ridgecrest, build their home with a side door and a legal one-bedroom suite.
Van der Putten says each home is energy modelled and built to above-code specifications with triple pane windows, a high-efficiency furnace and hot water delivery.
The Maxwell is priced from the $340,000s, and the Landon starts in the $360,000s. Prices include all landscaping and the buyer’s choice of six magazine-worthy interior design packages.
The Big Home concept with front/back duplex homes was piloted in Rohit’s Starling at Big Lake community, where it was overwhelmingly popular.Choice building lots and quick possession homes are now available in Ridgecrest, a beautiful southwest Edmonton ravine community at Rabbit Hill Road and 170 St. S.W.
Show homes are now open at 16114 – 32 Ave S.W. or visit liveinridgecrest.com/virtual-tours and take a virtual tour.
