Getting a refund from an Estonian hotel gets complicated with an online travel agency and a global pandemic

Q: I booked a trip to Tallinn, Estonia, earlier this year through Otel.com. I prepaid $919 for a refundable room at the Three Sisters Hotel. I couldn’t make the trip because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Otel agreed to contact the hotel and let me know their response. After a few weeks, I contacted the hotel to ask about my refund. A representative said they had not received any payment from Otel.com. They fully supported my request for a refund.

I contacted Otel.com and asked for a refund again. I received an e-mail from Otel.com indicating the refund had been issued.

A woman says she was forced to sleep rough in Amsterdam for two nights last weekend after her travel agent allegedly cancelled a hotel booking without telling her. 

Zea Hudson, 26, turned up at her hotel in the city but was turned away after hotel clerks said the travel agent had cancelled their booking a week earlier. 

Ms Hudson and her boyfriend, 42, booked their flights and accommodation through Loveholidays in February for £1,600. 

She said she couldn’t find another cheap booking so ended up cowering under a thin jumper under an underpass.
