@normal:Rick Blangiardi and Keith Amemiya head to the general election in the highly watched race for the open Honolulu mayor’s seat.
Blangiardi and Amemiya finished ahead of former Congresswoman Colleen Hanabusa in the primary that pared down the 15-candidate race to two.
Blangiardi logged 25.4 percent or 65,196 votes, followed by Amemiya with 20.4 percent or 52,209 votes.
Hanabusa got 18.4 percent with 47,136 votes. Former Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann finished fifth with 10 percent, 25,541 votes.
The Honolulu mayor’s seat is open with Kirk Caldwell term limited.
In the race for Hawaii County mayor, incumbent Mayor Harry Kim will not win another term, after finishing third.
Mitch Roth led the way with 31.1 percent, 20,225 votes; followed by Ikaika Marzo with 21.2 percent, 13764 votes in the 15 candidate race. Kim garnered 15.4 percent with 9,988 votes.
